Who Is Removed from the BISP Program in May 2025?

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has initiated a comprehensive review in May 2025 to ensure that financial assistance reaches the most deserving families. This process involves removing ineligible people based on updated criteria.

Reasons for Removal from BISP

  1. Government Employment: Individuals or their spouses employed in government sectors, including departments like Pakistan Railways, the Post Office, and even BISP itself, are deemed ineligible.
  2. Vehicle Ownership: Ownership of one or more vehicles, either by the beneficiary or their spouse, disqualifies them from receiving assistance.
  3. International Travel: Beneficiaries or their spouses who have traveled abroad, especially multiple times, are considered financially stable and thus ineligible.
  4. High Utility Bills: Paying monthly telephone bills exceeding Rs. 1,000 indicates a higher income level, leading to disqualification.
  5. Use of Executive Services: Applying for passports or CNICs through executive centers, either by the beneficiary or their family members, suggests financial capability, resulting in removal from the program.
  6. Ownership of Significant Land: Possessing over 12 acres of land is a criterion for exclusion, as it reflects substantial assets.
  7. High PMT Score: A Proxy Means Test (PMT) score above the threshold (typically 32) indicates a better financial standing, making the individual ineligible for BISP assistance.
