LAHORE – The Apni Zameen Apna Ghar Scheme, launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has seen fresh progress as of May 17, 2025. The scheme’s first phase, targeting 1,892 free 3-marla plots (675 sq. ft.) across 23 housing schemes in 19 districts, is in full swing. As of mid-May 2025, the balloting process for plot allocation has started, with results expected by late May. The Punjab Housing & Town Planning Agency (PHATA) reports that over 33,500 beneficiaries will also receive interest-free construction loans of up to Rs 1.5 million, repayable at Rs 14,000/month over seven years. Construction of 34,000 houses is underway, with 2,000 already completed in six months, and the government plans to deliver 100,000 homes within four and a half years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Residency: Must be a permanent resident of Punjab (verified by CNIC).
- Property Ownership: Neither the applicant, spouse, nor dependent children should own any plot or house in Pakistan.
- Income: Monthly household income must not exceed Rs 50,000.
- NSER Registration: Preference for those registered with the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) with a PMT score of 60 or less.
- Priority Groups: Widows, orphans, differently-abled individuals, and laborers are given preference.
