CM Free Solar Panel Scheme 2025 – Solar Panel Distribution Begins New Updates

Led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, this new project in Punjab offers free solar power units to homes using up to 200 units of electricity each month. The goal is to ease the pressure of high electricity bills and boost the use of green energy across the province.

About the Initiative

The Punjab administration plans to distribute 100,000 solar kits to eligible families. Each kit, with a capacity between 0.55 kW and 1.1 kW, includes solar panels, inverters, and storage batteries. The initial rollout targets households with up to 200 units of usage, with installations starting in March 2025 and wrapping up by July 2025.

Who Qualifies?

To participate, you must:

  • Reside permanently in Punjab.
  • Use no more than 200 electricity units monthly.
  • Hold a valid CNIC.
  • Own your house or get written consent from your landlord for installation.
  • Have an electricity connection of 2 kW or lower.
  • Government staff, those caught stealing power, or owners of faulty meters are not eligible.

How to Sign Up

You can apply using these options:

  1. Online
    • Go to cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk.
    • Select “Register” and provide your CNIC, bill reference, and contact details.
    • Submit and confirm your email to finalize.
  2. Via Text Message
    • Text your bill reference number and CNIC (no dashes) with a space between to 8800.
    • Await a response confirming your submission.
  3. At Bank of Punjab Branches
    • Visit your local BOP branch.
    • Pick up the CM Punjab Solar Initiative form.
    • Complete and submit it with the necessary documents.

Key Timelines

  • Application deadline: January 5, 2025.
  • Installation schedule: March to July 2025.
