CM Punjab Kisan Card Dues Payment Deadline Extended – See Complete Details

The Punjab government has officially extended the last date for farmers to pay their outstanding Kisan Card dues for the previous crop season. Now, the new deadline is May 30, 2025. This extension is aimed at giving farmers more time and financial relief, especially those facing tough economic conditions.

Original vs New Deadline

Initially, farmers were supposed to repay their Kisan Card loans between April 15 and May 15. But keeping the challenges in mind, Punjab’s Agriculture Minister, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, ordered the concerned departments to extend the deadline and also make the repayment process more convenient.

Now, farmers can pay through JazzCash in addition to the Bank of Punjab branches, making the process more flexible and accessible—especially for those in rural areas.

What is the Kisan Card?

The Kisan Card is a special government program designed to help farmers with financial support for buying seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural items. Here’s what it offers:

  • Interest-Free Loans: Farmers can borrow up to Rs. 300,000 without paying any interest.
  • Coverage Extended: The card now covers landholding from 5 acres to 10 acres.
  • No Fees: All service and processing charges (previously Rs. 1,000 per acre) have been removed.
  • More Eligibility: Farmers with up to 25 acres of land can now apply (previously only up to 12.5 acres).
  • Flexible Usage:
    • 30% of the loan can be taken in cash.
    • 20% is allowed for diesel purchases.
  • Direct Buying: Farmers can directly buy seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides from approved sellers without relying on middlemen.

Impact So Far

The Kisan Card scheme is already showing a strong impact across Punjab:

  • 1.3 million+ farmers have applied.
  • Around 530,000 cards have already been issued.
  • Farmers have used the card to purchase farming supplies worth Rs. 35 billion.
  • 86% of the money has been spent on buying fertilizers.

These numbers highlight how helpful the program has been in meeting farmers’ needs.

Helpline for Assistance

To further assist farmers, the government has set up a toll-free helpline:

  • Helpline Number: 0800-17000
  • Timings: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday to Sunday

Farmers can call this number to get help with applications, repayments, and purchases using the Kisan Card.

Final Words

The extension of the loan repayment deadline to May 30, 2025, shows the Punjab government’s continuous efforts to support its farming community. By improving the Kisan Card scheme and offering flexible repayment options, the government is ensuring that farmers can continue their agricultural activities smoothly and contribute to the province’s food production and economic growth.
