Why the Holidays Were Announced

These conditions could lead to heat-related health problems, prompting the government to take quick action to protect students.
Heatwave Safety Guidelines for Schools
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has shared safety instructions with all schools to ensure children and staff stay safe in the heat. These include:
- Cool Drinking Water: Schools must provide safe, clean, and cold drinking water.
- No Outdoor Activities: All outdoor events like sports and morning assemblies are suspended during hot hours.
- Light Clothing: Students should wear loose and airy clothes to stay cool.
- Ventilation in Classrooms: Rooms should have proper airflow and fans.
- First-Aid Support: Each school should have a basic first-aid kit and staff trained to help in emergencies caused by heat.
What About Colleges and Universities?
The summer holidays schedule shared so far applies only to schools. Colleges and universities in Punjab will follow separate guidelines provided by the Higher Education Department. Institutions that offer BS Four-Year Programs will continue according to their academic calendar. Also, all exams will take place as planned by boards and universities.
Final Message from the Government
The Punjab government has made it clear that all these steps are being taken to safeguard students, teachers, and parents from the effects of the heatwave. Schools must strictly follow the new timings and safety rules until the vacations begin.
